I have wanted a MySpace since I was in 5th grade,when it was first popular and everyone had one. My mom told me that i could not have one, and I followed her comand as to not getting one. But now, I am in 7th grade and I feel more mature. I am smart and ahead of my game. If I was the first kid my age that you met, and you met another kid my age you would not be able to tell that they were my age. You would think they were a tall young kid. Anywho, Now I feel that I should be able to get a MySpace. I asked my mom again but she wants to give it more thought. She said that she knows Im not stupid and she trust me. all I want it for is to communicate with my friends and work on my page and add new features and fun stuff. Im not gonna talk to anyone I dont know!
I want to know how do I get my parents to budge
What other good stuff can I tell them! I've tried everything I can think of (without lying)!
and if you dont think I should get a MySpace, then please ell me why?!
Why is MySpace so bad? It's hard to let kids have myspaces because there are crazy people out there. My brother (a senior in High School) told me just yesterday about a friend who has a stalker due to myspace. I guess he hacked on and got all her personal information. Like her address and phone number. The guy leaves creepy messages...and follows her everywhere she goes. As of now the police cannot trace where the calls are coming from.
Your parents are only trying to protect you. For right now just trust them (I know it's hard!). But, it sounds like your mom knows you are trustworthy and is thinking hard about it.
I would ask her if she'd feel more comfortable if she moderated your myspace for say 30 days. Or, if she could log on to check you out. Leave her your username and password so she can check up on you. This will make her trust you even more!!
This is how my girlfriend's daughter convinced her mom to give her a myspace. It really made her look grown up.

Why is MySpace so bad? Why not tell them you will have your profile set to private. That way only your "friends" can view it. I don't think it is that bad. If you are looking for trouble you will find it anywhere. I have had more problems with unwanted people bugging me on here than on Myspace. Good luck

Myspace is not a bad thing, esp because you can set your profile to private that you have to be your "friend" to see your profile and also you can make it that someone needs to know your last name or email to even add you as their friend! Maybe if you tell your mom you can set those preferences she will let you! I have a myspace but I am also 21 and have my own house so I don't need anyones permission.
Why is MySpace so bad? I have a myspace account and it is definitely has its perks but people talk really vulgar on there but u can tell ur mom she can monitor what u r doing. You can make it where only your friends can see your profile and comment on your page and message you but at your age I would definitely be careful. You should let her do a little research maybe show her a little about it.

If you choose to use MySpace, you have to understand that you are posting personal information about yourself the whole entire world will be able to have access to including complete strangers you do not know.

Why is MySpace so bad? myspace has a privacy setting so that only people who are your friends can see your profile,e-mail and comment page.that's definate for your young age.keep safe from viruses by not surfing on there(aimless wandering to see profiles) because people do put bugs in photos and profile just to be stupid!! do not let anyone be a friend on your page just because they ask either...if ya don't know them, deny them.there are blocks to put on users too and other security measures there as well to keep safe.one other thing, don't do much downloads of other people's videos and stuff on their profiles (you may think it's cool) and that will help with virus risk and such.use all safety measures and keep info on you minimal and mom may let you.
Why is MySpace so bad? I think a lot of adults have misconceptions about what MySpace is about. They only hear the horror stories advertised on the news about sex predators using MySpace to lure in children. I didn't know what to expect, but as I work with a lot of teens, I am on the MySpace network, and I have seen nothing negative about it yet. In fact, I am often surprised at how innocent and silly most of the stuff going on in MySpace is (at least with the nice crowd of kids on my friends list).
Maybe you could ask your mom to sit down and look at the pages of some of your friends with you. You could say, "Mom, hurry come and see what ________ (your friend's name here) wrote on her MySpace page." Then your mom will run in, expecting something horrible, and when she reads a boring, silly blog, she'll say "This is dumb." Then you can say, "Exactly. That's what it is all about, being silly and keeping in touch with friends, no matter how dumb the convesations get."
Also, maybe you could ask her to create an account with you and you offer to give her your username and password, and show her how to log in. Tell her she can check up on you, on your blogs, comments, and messages anytime she wants. This may help her feel more comfortable about you keeping your privacy. And probably, after a while, once she sees how generally harmless MySpace is when used carefully, she will begin to trust you.

Why is MySpace so bad? Why won't you get one...how about because you respect the fact that your parents are trying to protect you from the many predators that routinely comb MySpace looking for vulnerable kids.
Why else? Because you like your computer and want it to work all the time not be crashed with some new virus that one of the MySpace wackos buried in a page. (Personal experience here. I fix my kid's computer at least once a week. She completely thrashed the harddrive with a virus right before Christmas. I had to completely reload the operating system and all the programs. Guess what? She lost ALL her personal files.)

Why is MySpace so bad? I think you have to trust your mom's decision on what she does and says. I heard Myspace has alot of Bad things like pop up garbage that has prno stuff and bad music videos. There have also been sevral lawsuits against people trying to kidnapp and have sex with kids that used myspace
