Can any with msn messenger?

Msn Messenger can be blocked in a number of ways. Now it depends as to what way has been followed in your school.

Messenger Service is connected through port 1863 when a direct connection is established. When a direct connection cannot be established, the MSN Messenger Service is connected through port 80.

Block HTTP access to gateway.messenger.hotmail.com. If you would like to block access to MSN Web Messenger you will also need to block HTTP access to webmessenger.msn.com.

Other ways to block MSN Messenger would be edit the hosts file and refer the IP address to 127.0.0.1.

It can also be blocked using enabling group policy which will not allow you to pull up the MSN Messenger at all.

Or the school could have uninstalled the MSN component from the system completely.

The only way left to access your MSN Messenger would be to use a web version of MSN messenger like ebuddy, meebo, e-messenger etc.

And if the school has even blocked these sites using the firewall, then you can use a web based proxy server to connect to one of these site.

Since even the proxy sites are blocked by many corporate n instituition the best way would be to use a SSL supporting web proxy like kproxy etc.
